![]() I tried to help my friend with the unix language and Lubuntu with the Pinbox system. I believe that response came to me about two months ago. I emailed Nucore a while back and got a response telling me that Nucore was trying to make a return and would be back on the market shortly. ![]() You could have Nucore build you a machine but you could have built your own machine and purchased the dongle from Nucore. I wonder how many people have gotten this to work.ĭgoett, I believe Nucore was available as a dongle and software option. I don't think the guys from Nucore should have anything to worry about because I think Nucore has made the install and the compatibility much easier than the Pinbox copy. I'm curious if anyone has gotten Pinbox to work after hearing the story from my friend. I would buy Nucore if it became available again even if it's going to cost me. I told him just to wait for Nucore to be available (hopefully it will be available again). Either way, he couldn't get Pinbox to work with two different computers. When trying to install the software with a Nvidia video card that boots into a higher video resolution by default than 640x480 the computer boots directly to the unix prompt. He noticed that if your video card boots into the BIOS of the motherboard with 640x480 you get to the screen where you can choose the table of your choice, but when you select the table (even when the computer is plugged into the pinball machine with the parallel cable) it errors out to the Unix prompt screen with the errors you indicated after selecting the table. He tried installing the software on two machines and had the same issue. I thought he was making the new Trilogy for me, but it was for my kids all along.ĭgoett, my friend tried Pinbox on his RFM. Say what you want, but Lucas knew what he was doing. After playing SWEP1 they had to watch the movies and are Star Wars freaks now. Playing devil's advocate here though, before I picked up SWEP1 my boys showed no interest in what I felt was the superior SW trilogy(4-6). The price increase, coupled with a release of a months-old property that did not deliver on the insane expectations/hype of a new Star Wars movie, sealed the pinball division's fate IMO. Wizard Blocks never had a chance.Ī thousand times this!!!! People can shit on the Pin2k games that were produced, but you cannot deny that pinball STILL hasn't advanced past what these guys accomplished 14 years ago! Wizard Blocks most likely would have been the game that cemented the Pin2k format, and understand that the intentions(according to Gomez) was that they were going to produce Pin2k games and "classic" DMD games. ![]() Consumer sales were never even considered. Everything was driven by Dealers/Operators back then. Remember - Pinball Circus was cancelled because it cost $300/unit more to make than a conventional pin. All they had to do was release SW:E1 with a higher price and the rest was history. My opinion is that Williams was planning to close down Pinball (to make slot machines) and when the success of RFM hit, got worried that their plans to show it as a loosing division was being thwarted. Wizard Blocks had one mode partially programmed for it so the game is playable to a point but not anything close to a complete game. The SW:E1 team were working in parallel with the RFM team for a lot of the time. ![]() About 4 or 5 whitewoods were created for Wizard Blocks and judging from the last one, it was close to being done as far as playfield layout was concerned. It's simply no comparison.Īs I know it, that's what happened. I put $4 in a RFM a couple of days ago and didn't touch the SWEP1. Yes SWEP1 is a movie license but in this case it sold less and was played less than an unlicensed theme. In my opinion they should have put Lawlor to work on Wizard Blocks immediately after Revenge From Mars.
