We got on the roof and played for a couple of minutes before a worker came over and told us it was closed that day because they were working on a new exhibit, which no one told us about when we bought our tickets. They were more interested in the play area on the roof, which was closed the day we were there. Our 2 kids (7&5) blew through most of this. If you have a child that will sit and do hands-on projects, then this will be great for them. (The best one I've ever been to was in London and it was FREE.) Wish we had it when I was little! I think it cost us somewhere around $21-24 to go in, which for 1 adult and 2 kids comes in a bit more expensive than most children's museums. (Didn't like it as a kid) This place was such a refreshing suprise. I grew up close to Chattanooga and have been to Rock City, Ruby Falls, etc but have never taken my children there. Several trainers showed the kids how they teach the dogs and let them meet everyone. There was a show with therapy dogs while we were there that my girls loved. They had a Clifford the Big Red Dog exhibit upstairs when we were there and my three year old loved pretending she lived in Clifford's village. It seemed to me that Chattanooga really did their research.the best exhibits from every museum I've been to were there. Be sure to plan for an entire day here.My husband travels for business and we travel along with him so my children (3 and 7) have been to just about every children's museum in the southeast. Children learn by playing, discovering, and DOING. There are many different sections that are geared toward a particular thing. Very hands on! We drive 2 1/2 hours to get there, and it is very well worth it. This is the BEST children's museum we have ever been to. We also enjoy that there are often hands on crafts or learning activities offered throughout the museum.ĭefinitely worth a family trip for general educational fun. The roof exhibit is our favorite with all the different physics fun to be had. There is something for even a two year old to enjoy here, though the real fun kicks in for early elementary and up. The Creative Discovery Museum combines the best of a traditional children's hands on museum with the best of a children's science museum, and the result is endless fun and learning. This is hands down our favorite children's museum, and we have visited several in three different states. Explore the various ways water can be used, learn about musical instruments, stage your own puppet show, play in the little yellow house, explore the fresh new exhibits on the upper level, enjoy craft time, play on the roof, learn about physics, see a real beehive, and just enjoy being a kid at any age! They also do great birthday parties as well! The museum is packed full of wonderful educational opportunities and chances to make great memories! This is an absolute don't miss! All of our children ages 18 months, 3 years, and 5 years love the museum. Even places for your super little ones! So fun, it's hard to get them out. Geared at elementary age, the older ones enjoy the Invention and Art areas. Homeschool classes available as well as a free night each month. There are clubs just for kids, camps, art lessons, science shows, exciting overnight adventures, gooey workshops and parties galore. Kids learn best when they're having fun and that's why they make everything they do fun and exciting for children of all ages. There's always something new to see and do at Creative Discovery Museum. Please check the facility's website for the latest information before making a trip. The Visiting Info shown below, if any, is always subject to change.
